About Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT)
NMT is the treatment and release of tightly bound tissues such as muscle and fascia. Using specific soft tissue manipulation integrates the central nervous system with the muscular system, allowing a return to a normal state of function. Knowledge of angles of pressure and placement of the therapist's hands or tools are crucial. Whenever possible, the whole muscle is treated from insertion to origin. This differs greatly from just treating the midpoint of the muscle.
Susan's Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJD) Treatment
Using a gloved hand, TMJD treatment is performed inside the mouth. Mild static pressure and or massage to the MANY muscles in the jaw is applied. The muscles in the mouth are very vascular. Stimulating the muscles increases blood flow, thus allowing the muscles to relax and heal. This usually means quite immediate, dramatic, long term relief from pain. Be sure your therapist is certified and experienced in TMJD treatment.

Susan's testimonials
"My quality of life was deteriorating greatly due to my jaw pain. I went to see Susan and was amazed after the first visit. I have not had jaw pain in two years now."

"My shoulder was hurting so badly and my mobility so limited that I expected to have rotator cuff surgery. Three sessions of neuromuscular therapy with Susan and my shoulder pain diminished by 80%, mobility increased by 75%, and I now foresee 100% healing."
B. Lynch - Boise, ID
"I was diagnosed with TMJ syndrome 18 yrs ago. After a round of jaw pain and clicking about 6 months ago, I decided to give TMJ massage a try. Susan's TMJ massage and her intensive head, neck, shoulder, and back massage, coupled with her advice on what I should do at home, has allowed me to ditch the oral splint I've been wearing at night since I was diagnosed, and my jaw hasn't locked up. I feel much better!"
